"Yes," she says. "Yes, exactly."

She looks melancholy, and lonely, and very young. But she only lets that expression survive briefly.

"She's really extraordinary, you know," she says. "To complete this trial I had to see through her eyes and lend her my ability to see thanergy. I got to watch her fight from inside her. It was amazing. I knew she was the best we had, that's why I dragooned her, but she's the best we've had in generations."
