This is Halloween!
The Bar loves her holidays, but she is also capable of respecting religious strictures. That's why she put a lot of thought into finding a Halloween costume for Harrow that works with her face paint and general insistence on the monochromatic.
Harrow, for her part, is baffled by the white-pinstriped black suit and the oversized bow, but the gloves are very cool, and the buckled shoes suit as well. She has no idea what's going on but she can live with this.
The Bar seems even more unusually populated than usual, and there are a lot of gourds around. Hm.

But she's going to share! So that's all right. A sly smile sneaks over his face as he whispers to her, "You're the best of friends."
no subject
"All right."
He turns carefully to face Bar-guniang and says, politely,
"Bar-guniang. May we have a cup of the coffee with milk that Ingress prefers? And--"
"--a small cup, otherwise. For me." Remembering how bitter it had been when he had tried it before, he adds, "Perhaps with milk as well."
A large latte manifests in a mug the color of Ingress's hair, along with a white mug of freshly percolated coffee with cream.
no subject
“Delicious. Just what I needed.”
She stands on her own two feet without leaning on either of her friends. Inside she still feels happy bubbles of love and contentment, but the coffee does help steady her. She takes another sip and then offers the mug to Wei Wuxian.
no subject
Wait.
Did Lan Zhan just ordered coffee for himself?
He shoves Ingress's cup back toward her -- fortunately, it doesn't slosh too much -- and grabs one of Lan Zhan's hands. "Lan Zhan! Don't drink that! What if it's like alcohol to you and you don't sleep at all for three days?"
His eyes have gone huge with worry.
no subject
He picks up the mug and takes a cautious sip, waits for a moment, then tries another.
no subject
“I’ll sober up a bit more before I go back to Haven, but I think I’m tired.”
And chilly. She’s ready for pants again.
no subject
Wei Wuxian pouts -- he doesn't want Ingress to leave yet! -- but relents soon enough to push the cupcakes over to her. "Take a few more before you go," he encourages. "They can be breakfast!"
And then he lets go of Lan Zhan long enough to wrap Ingress in a huge hug. "Thank you for celebrating with me. And for the wine. That was such good wine."
no subject
"Be well, Ingress. Thank you."
no subject
Once she's safely home, Wei Wuxian sighs a long, happy sigh and leans back against Lan Zhan.
"I want to go outside," he says, peering hazily at Lan Zhan over the top of his sunglasses. "Can we?"
no subject
“If you wish.”
no subject
If Lan Zhan's going to hug him, then Wei Wuxian is going to kiss him. That's just how this works.
"I heard someone say there's a full moon. Let's go look at it, Lan Zhan." He disentangles himself just enough to start meandering toward the back door, Lan Zhan helping him along; midway there, he starts to snicker again. "Aiya, that wine didn't taste strong at all, I'm glad I didn't find it on my own or you'd be carrying me over your shoulders!"
no subject
He manages to get the lake door open and makes sure Wei Ying’s black wings are not extended before he passes through it.
no subject
The cool night breeze stirs his hair and gently ruffles the feathers of his wings. It's much, much darker out than he anticipated, though. Surely it can't be that late, can it? And if it were a full moon, the grounds should be much brighter --
Oh. Right.
The sunglasses.
He fumbles them off, blinking his golden serpent's eyes up at the sky.
no subject
Wei Ying's eyes almost seem to glow in the darkness. It is disconcerting, but he supposes no stranger than anything else about what they are wearing.
He wraps his fingers around the other man's wrist and gently tries to draw him towards the water.
no subject
Oh, no. Wei Wuxian stumbles to a halt, rounding on him in a burst of sudden worry. He grabs Lan Zhan's face in both hands. "Lan Zhan, are you all right? Do you feel okay?"
One tiny glass and Wei Wuxian feels as drunk as he did in London Above. Who knows how little it would take to affect Lan Zhan?
no subject
"I only tasted. You."
no subject
(Also, Wei Wuxian has dimly realized that Lan Zhan wouldn't have been able to hold him and Ingress upright if he were drunk as well. So... that's definitely good! Lovely, helpful, very much sober Lan Zhan. Good.)
"But it was excellent, wasn't it?" he goes on, the worry melting away as fast as it arrived. "I can't think of anything better. Not even Emperor's Smile. Which I can't believe I'm saying! But it's true, Lan Zhan, I almost wish it wasn't so strong so I could drink it more often."
no subject
He slides an arm and a wing around Wei Ying and resumes his patient attempt to move them toward the lake - or, more specifically - to the flat rocks near the shoreline.
no subject
A beat.
"Well, I might, but I know I'll lose. Maybe! Maybe I'll just see how much of a face you make when I suggest something."
no subject
He helps Wei Ying sit on the rock, when they reach it. It surely cannot be any less comfortable than a rooftop.
no subject
Above them, the moon gleams bright silver in the blackened sky, thin wisps of clouds refracting its light into ghostly streaks. He wraps one dark wing around Lan Zhan with a smile.
"What about when there's a full moon? Is that a special enough occasion?"
no subject
"But not enough."
no subject
He draws out the words, idly kicking his free foot against the rock.
"If I figure out all the new constellas -- constel -- " Damn it. "Stars. Because they're not like home, did you see that? What if I figure out how to..." Oh, what's the word. "Go places, with them. Around here."
no subject
Before Wei Ying can take that to mean agreement, however, he adds,
"However, since Wei Ying has figured out more difficult things, it is also not a special enough occasion."
no subject
He snuggles closer to Lan Zhan.
"What if I clear half the talismans off my wall?"
